Explore the Lake and photograph wildlife in this short VR Kayaking experience!Made by Cameron Bowes, Zi Xuan Sean Ng and Evan Puah

Outcomes from this Project
This was my first time building a game for a non-PC platform. Experiencing the benefits and limitations of building a game for a platform as unique as VR has helped me to take on other projects well outside of my comfort zone that capitalize on the unique constraints of different mediums.
Snap Lake Adventures was one of only 6 teams chosen to showcase their game at QUT Open Day and QUT VR Immersive Festival to help expand interest in the game development industry.

About Snap Lake Adventures
Snap Lake Adventures is a short VR experience that teaches players how to row a kayak while letting them relax by taking photos of wildlife throughout the lake.
Step into the role of a nature photographer, rowing your boat through a tranquil lake teeming with life. Guided by the friendly park ranger Rio and armed with your camera, you'll explore, observe, and uncover the lake’s hidden secrets—capturing perfect wildlife moments one paddle at a time.

Summary of my Contributions

  • Lead Designer, creating pre-production documentation and concept art

  • Sole programmer on the low-fidelity prototype demonstrating functionality of a complex rowing physics system to create smooth and realistic motion and rotation.

  • Programmed the photography system, making use of Unity's XR Grabbables Package to increase efficiency.

Build connected Roller Coasters with your friends and push the limits of your riders in this thrilling head-to-head Board Game!Made by Cameron Bowes, Tony Bowes and Sandy Bowes

Outcomes from this Project
Dueling Coasters had a rocky start, with too many mechanics trying to simulate every part of a rollercoaster. After pitching to game publisher Ravensburger, we ripped apart systems to find the most fun part of the game, turning what was once a crunchy simulation into a lighter family game suitable for a much wider audience.
Playtesting Dueling Coasters so many times has given me a great amount of experience in finding the root of players' issues with games, and good design experience at solving these issues through smaller tweaks rather than massive overhauls.Currently, we are presenting Dueling Coasters at game conventions, and looking for a publisher to finalize the project.

About Dueling Coasters
Dueling coasters is a head-to-head board game that lets you build a roller coaster one tile at a time, doing your best to utilise the tracks placed down while also trying to interrupt other players' plans in the process.
Create the most exciting roller coaster by using intense tracks like loop-de-loops and hammerheads, but watch out that you don't make your riders nauseous by overdoing it!
Dueling coasters was inspired by the Roller Coaster Tycoon series, as well as Carcassonne and Tsuro. I Co-Designed all mechanics in the game and often run playtests at large events or with friends.

Outcomes from this Project
Working with a team of 11 people has significantly helped my experience with delegating tasks and making readable code that others can reuse. This project has also given me great experience with publishing to Steam instead of Itch.io
